Northern Michigan elementary school kids get a day of learning on the water
Stand Up For Great Lakes partnered up with LXV Outdoor to bring SUP Training to a northern Michigan elementary school. For four days, over 200 students were taught water safety, the importance of PFDs and leashes, and paddle technique. These future SUP paddlers and surfers had a blast spending their school days at the beach!
Sup Outdoor Ambassador Kwin Morris is the Physical Education teacher at the school and continues to keep SUP in his lessons. Some kids are scared and are not comfortable being in the water. After a week of fun, these same kids are hard to get out of it! It is amazing to spread the love we have for these great lakes to future generations that will be an enormous part in protecting them.
About Stand Up For Great Lakes
What started as a dream to cross Lake Michigan on stand up paddleboards, led to a realization that more awareness was needed to protect not only the Great Lakes but all rivers, lakes and streams. Our goal is to cross each Great Lake by stand up paddle board while raising funds and awareness for this amazing natural resource. We also hope to educate, protect and advocate.
